SIGNWAVE helps John Wollaston Anglican Community School refresh the brand to reflect its ethos and attract interest from passing passengers.
Founded in 1989 and named after Western Australia’s first archdeacon, John Wollaston Anglican Community School prides itself on being a progressive and forward-thinking environment that encourages the exploration of talent and creativity.
New look for the next generation
The school approached SIGNWAVE Belmont with a plan to refreshen its signage and design.
The grounds needed to be updated to reflect the school’s standards of excellence and attract families looking for a safe and stimulating learning environment for children from pre-kindergarten age all the way to year 12.
As a bonus, they needed to maximise a prime opportunity for free advertising to passing commuters courtesy of a sign on the premises that faced a busy rail line.
From style guide to sign installation
The SIGNWAVE team began by designing a new look and an entire school style guide that encompassed everything from fonts to signage. Once the style guide was approved, SIGNWAVE Belmont put their plans for the school make-over into action.
A major feature backlit sign that could be viewed from a nearby train-line. Its huge dimensional letters - over a metre high each - perfectly positioned to grab the attention of commuters.
A unique feature sign created with aluminium panels and dimensional letters to advertise the school along a busy road.
A wayfinding signage solution including dimensional letters, pylons and building labels to prevent anyone from getting lost.
The refurbishment and relocation of a 3-metre pylon. A complex job that involved creating new cement foundations, unbolting from the original cement footing and careful disconnection and reallocation of electrical wires, transporting the pylon via a small crane, bolting it to the new footings and refurbishing the pylon sign.
Refurbishing three existing small wayfinding pylons and installing two new wayfinding pylons to match the existing ones.
New school crests for the front entrance archway.
“I have been impressed by the professionalism of the Signwave team at all stages of the project,” said Anne Ford, Principal, John Wollaston Anglican Community School. “They supported our vision, offered creative solutions and delivered on time and on budget. Our campus has been enhanced by a new suite of signs that are well made, functional and attractive. I look forward to our continued association with SIGNWAVE.
The entire installation process took place over 4 weeks during the summer school holidays to ensure it was completed before students returned to their upgraded school grounds in the new school year.
